Hillis Joins ATSE Fellows
Professor Richard Hillis has been elected as one of the 31 Australian leaders in technological science, engineering and innovation being accepted for 2011 as Fellows of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE).
Professor Hillis, Chief Executive of the CRC for Deep Exploration Technologies and former Australian School of Petroleum Head of School at the University of Adelaide, is nationally and internationally recognised as one of the world's leading researchers in tectonics and geomechanics, his work contributing significantly to the understanding of stresses in the Earth's crust. His work has been applied
to petroleum exploration, carbon dioxide geosequestration and geothermal energy.
The Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE) is an independent body of 800 eminent Australian engineers and scientists who are elected to Fellowship in recognition of their impact and excellence of achievement.
ATSE fellows, elected through peer nomination, are leading researchers and business leaders especially in the key areas of: Applied physical science and technology, Applied biological science and technology, and Engineering, Information Technology and Architecture Fellowship of the Academy.
